Dementia Aprons
Dementia Aprons is a research project investigating the design of sensory textiles for people with late stage dementia. New wearable textile products are being developed using materials embedded with smart technologies in order to help stimulate, comfort and engage people with late stage dementia.
A Dementia Apron Hack Funshop brought together carers, health professionals, technologists, artists and researchers to develop personalised designs with embedded electronics. The event was informed by case study research in collaboration with Gwalia Cyf.
This participatory research is being supported by funding from Cardiff Metropolitan University and is a collaboration with UTS – Australia, ArtsFission – Singapore, Gwalia Cyf and is supported by Age Cymru My Home Life and Dementia Positive charities.
